Just out of interest, I thought I would give you a treat this week.

The Council Tax bills came through your doors last month with a fair increase.
The local Conservatives ‘In Touch’ pointed out that most of the Dacorum/County tax increases were caused by Government policies without funding.
The National Government presented a budget where it will be next April before you start to see the tax increases.
A large number of local authorities have had elections which reflected a fairly neutral attitude to political parties.

As I understand it, almost everything that our local government has to do, rather than by choice, is done without proper funding.
Parking enforcement - paid for locally and any income goes to Westminster.
Abandoned vehicles - paid for locally and any income goes to Westminster.
and the list continues..........

Mind you, most of the parking, abandoned vehicles and fly dumping is actually done by locals or on behalf of locals, it just would be nice to be masters of our own problems and then our Councillors would actually be accountable!

I was looking through one of the national papers over the weekend and I have discovered my house is worth far more than I thought.

It appears that just a short walk away, they are going to build a few houses on the site of just one house. The prices start from - wait for it - one million pounds each.
Now I know I do not live in a 4/5 bedroomed detached house, just a 3 bedroomed detached bungalow, but it was built on land attached to a large house, even though it was some 70+ years ago.

I think by now, you know my reaction.
